Re: Monster laser
Made some progress today. I got the mounting holes for the Y rails drilled (18 per rail). Once the rails were installed I was able to measure, cut and weld the rest of the gantry frame. Parallelism is better than I had hoped for, so shimmying is unnecessary. Tipping the gantry more than about half a...

Re: Monster laser
That's exactly what I did. Well, I had 8 but only intend to use 4-6 so I had spares. Im a machinist, so it was just a surprise when I had made the mating bracket on a mill accurate to 0.001" but the block was off by nearly a quarter inch. It took longer than I care to admit to notice that it wa...

Re: K40 running Grbl
I'm actually using a lab chiller. It is not ideal as it runs the refrigeration system non stop and pulses a 1500w heater to maintain a very accurate temp. Its a bit of a power hog. 12g is a nice size thermal mass with an active chiller pulling as much heat off as it can, my system has maybe 1.5g to ...

K40 running Grbl
Here is my k40 running converted to an eccentric Grbl board. Moderately easy swap that allows me to run lightburn. Also pictured is a few of the things myself and my wife have made with it. I am currently sitting in front of it running the second batch of 500 tokens for my First Lego League students...
