Initial Install Issues- Arduino isn't communicating after shield is attached

#1

Post by Erikv »

Hi, I recently setup an Arduino with Grblduino Uno. When I check the Arduino prior to connecting to the shield the Serial Monitor displays Grbl 1.1 and I am able to prompt the $$ settings. Grbl was flashed using the Xloader method.
I unplug from USB and connect to the fully wired shield, plug back in and when I check the Arduino serial monitor Grbl 1.1 is not displayed and I am unable to prompt the Grbl settings. I am however, still able to see the Arduino (com 5 on my machine) if I go to ports. What am I doing wrong/missing.
Thank you for any help,
Erik

PS.
UGS won't communicate with the controller.
It says GRBL is still booting or something to that nature.

Specs:
Arduino Uno R3 (real)
Grblduino Uno V2
Grbl v1.1h
Pololu drv8825's (real)
36v power to board
Windows 10

UPDATE...
FAULTY E-STOP SWITCH CAUSING INTERMITTENT OPEN/COSED CONDITION. After resetting the switch it wasn't mechanically resetting and "hanging up". After some time the amber light would fade out at which point I am able to communicate with the Arduino. Never a dull moment.
