Here is the step-by-step process to assembling your GRBLDuino Uno Shield.
First, lay out all of the parts and group them together.
Place the Arduino header pins into the PCB from the bottom side. Only these 4 headers will be soldered on the top side of the PCB.
Insert all of the remaining header pins into the correct locations on the top side of the PCB. These will be soldered on the bottom side of the PCB.
Next, insert all of the components. Bend the leads to hold them in place (the large capacitors will likely stay in place without being bent).
Pay attention to the orientation of the resistor network (the single line, 6 pin, yellow or black package). The dot on the one end gets aligned with the box printed on the PCB.
Finally, Insert the stepper driver sockets, making sure they are sitting straight. Insert all of the screw terminals as well.
I typically solder the Arduino headers, then the remaining headers, then the components, then the driver sockets, and finally the screw terminals. Total assembly time is typically 20 to 30 minutes. Take your time and ensure you have good solder joints (they should be shiny and smooth). Bad solder joints will cause many problems which will be nearly impossible to troubleshoot.
